Shag

This week I bought this Stationary set by Shag at Faster Pussy cat. I love a good luau but I don't know if I'll ever be able to drag ink across these.  It came with little stickers and cool envelopes too.

Concrete Can

I don't know who does these but I assume it's the same artist that does the concrete remote controls and T.V's around Newtown. This one was on Castlereagh St in the city or one of the streets parallel. I'm pretty sure they have a studio in M'ville. Would love to give props where props are due so if anyone knows who did this drop me an email at frankenstyles@gmail.com and I'll put it up.

Drawing 1- Some Guy

I couldn't get to sleep last night so I knocked this out which was cool because I've promised myself I'm going to post a drawing here everyday until I stop and then go on TV and talk about it.

Jaylib

This is Jaylib (Madlib and J Dilla) off Stones Throw Records. There's a tribute to J-Dilla on tonight at Ruby Rabbit. People are crying on YouTube about whether or not the MC's are rapping about the right subjects and if they're underground enough. There are few people that are making Hip Hop that wish to remain underground. Someone even posted the other day that Joe Budden ( New Jersey MC- famous for, Focus, Pump it Up, Fire) has gone underground??? Sure, there are artists that get sick of it all and give up the fame. But rappers that are still performing and in Joe Budden's case have just a new record out (last year with Slaughterhouse) would like to sell as many as possible. I don't reckon you can go back under once you've been over, there's only popular, unpopular and retired. An example of someone that has an opposing view is Vanilla Ice who was a household name in the 90's and then put out "Platinum Underground" in 2005. Not dissing him or anyone mentioned above I like them all but "Platinum Alternative" would have been more honest. He's still touring too. www.vanillaice.com

Mini Graff

This is right up there with the last street post near the Sydenham canals. This one is by Mini Graff I'll keep on the lookout for more. I saw a pretty cool knitted one the other day. It's all about ducks and repression and Nathan Rees and everything. www.minigraff.com

[Edit]

Public Hanging in St Peters

This game of Hangman has been developing over the last few days on a wall next to the train station at Peters station.

Tiki joy

Today I've been drinking this with dry ginger ale and a variation with diet lemon mineral water. Captain Morgan tastes like it's got vanilla in it. Loren gave me the Tiki mug, we have a few but he's my fave. He has bit's of glass or ceramic in the base and jingle jangles when you shake him to show your host you need a top up.

Our house, in the middle of the street

I post a lot of things I buy here. Things like this also take my interest and provide a counter balance to our consumer culture blah blah blah. Just think yourself lucky you have an internet connection and all the rest of it because this guy is not the first of a whole stack of super trendy bag collectors like the ones mentioned in my plastic bag factory post. In the bottom left hand side is his bank, please make a deposit behind Woolie's Town Hall.

FIGHT THE POWER! @

Punk graffiti always looks like this. If you replaced the anarchy symbol with a peace sign it would look like a Hippy did it. If the lettering looked good it could be a Hip-Hopper quoting Public Enemy. I used an @ instead of an anarchy symbol you must be lolling your guts out yeh?

Michael Jackson

Looks like a cool place to work ey?

Sydenham Reservoir

Out the back of Dirty Shirlow's.

J Rocker

Get a go at some of J Rocker's art here too! www.myspace.com/jrockerart

Graff St

It actually points towards Sydenham Canals.

Plastic Bag Factory

Tick, tock? Is time running out for this small Aussie business or will plastic bags become collectable like glass milk bottles or something.

Get Crunky!

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!! I got this from an Asian grocery store out the back of Woolies Town Hall.

BONSAI!

This is one of three figs I liberated from a drain/PVC Ag Pipe coming out of the gutter on King St, Newtown. I've been into Bonsai since the 80's. Karate kid may have been the start but they were in a lot of other films too. They were always in the offices of important people that had their shit together. People that could remember to water it every couple of days. People that were on top of things and could keep a tree in a pot on their desk for kicks. To me being able to keep a plant let alone a Bonsai alive is still a measure of how well someone keeps their shit together.

V.I.P.

This is a free entry to Deville's Pad in perth. I got it because I asked about dinner and they're chef had flipped out and gone home (perhaps). IT IS AN AWESOME PLACE ! Their decor is hella good. www.devillespad.com

DIY Mini Munny

Pay me money and I'll paint this. I'll make it good, I promise I'll do my best.

Receipts and Junk

Here's all the crap in my wallet. It's mostly receipts for tours and stuff I did when I was in Perth and some stuff I've done since I was back, like the Dizzee Rascal ticket. I'll have to work out how to get the date off the pics in future but it's OK for a blog I suppose.
